Glasgow Climate Courtyards! Recently, O’DonnellBrown has been working with climate-resilience research group; @gallant_gla and Danish landscape architecture practice; @bogl_landscape on a new self-initiated project. The collaboration began at the Liveable Cities Conference 2024, where we connected with BOGL after learning about their ‘Courtyard of the Future’ project which reimagined a shared residential courtyard in Copenhagen as a multifunctional, climate-adapted space. The project’s potential application to Glasgow’s tenement block typology was immediately clear! In phase one, after choosing Govanhill as our research area and engaging with local stakeholders, we’re mapping the conditions of tenement backcourts and recording key issues and concerns raised by the community. With this project, we’re aiming to develop accessible approaches that support climate resilience while strengthening community life. Stay tuned for more updates!
